Installation at Sotheby's contemporary Israeli design exhibition, Greenwald house, Tel Aviv

"KERESH" is a collection of wooden lamps, randomly arranged like a pile of planks. Piles of planks leaning against the wall or piled up on the floor a moment before it will be measured, cut, glowed and painted are a common sight in carpentry workshops. "KERESH" collection is an attempt to create a product that looks like the material it is made out of.

"TARBIT" is a series of round handmade felt carpets that follow the growth of mold. The organic nature of the felting process naturally depicts these marvelous micro-environments and colorful life created in your very own unwashed coffee cup.

"קרש" היא סדרה של גופי תאורה השעונים באופן אקראי על הקיר כערמה של קורות עץ. מראה זה שכיח בסדנאות ובנגריות בהם העץ הגולמי מונח על הרצפה או מושען על הקיר עד אשר יימדד, יחתך, יודבק ויצבע לכדי מוצר סופי. העבודה היא ניסיון ליצור מוצר הנראה כמו חומר הגלם שיצר אותו , כביכול כגלגולו הקודם.

"תרבית" היא סדרה של שטיחי לבד עגולים שנוצרו בהשראת הצורות והאסטטיקה של תרביות חיידקים ועובש. בין מחזורי שטיפת כלים, בטווח הזמן שבו נגמרות לאיטן כל הכוסות הנקיות מתפתחים להם חיים מרהיבים בקומפוזציה עגולה שלאופי האורגני של טכניקת הליבוד קל להתחקות אחריהן.

Tahrir

Tahrir Square was oneof the most prominent symbols of the January revolution.

We used the map of Tahrir, which before therevolution was just another central square in Cairo, as amotif that can be embedded on bread dough with a rollingpin before the bread is baked. The breadwas another symbol which protesters used in order todemonstrate their poverty and lack of choicesthat brought them to the relentless struggle pursuedagainst their government.
This object corresponds with stamps used in ancient times to pass oninformation - and suggests using the bread as a medium of communicationused by the crowd for the crowd.

Tahrir was created forthe SAVE AS [ ] PROJECT of Maya Ben David. Designers from all over the worldwere asked to correspond to the "Arab Spring" phenomena by suggestinga "figure of memory", using 3D printing technologies. The Project wasexhibited in the Eindhoven Design Academy graduation show, Dutch Design Week October2011.

Service Ware Design for Shakuf Restaurant

It's been a long and wonderful journey together with Chef Eldad Shem Tov, looking for the right design for the service ware of his new restaurant "Shakuf".

We got to meet some great artists and makers along the way. There were glass blowers, carpenters, mold makers, ceramic artists, masons, and even one pre-historic tools maker and researcher. With some we worked, from others we just got some great piece of advice. Two important collaborators were ceramic artists Hilda Merom and Rachel Aurbach.

Felt Work for Shakuf Restaurant

Shakuf is the new restaurant of the Chef Eldad Shem Tov.

For the great part of this year we worked on the design of all the service ware of Shakuf.

Here are some of the textile items we designed and made in our studio – all made of handmade felt.

These paper pulp furniture were made in 2008. it is a set of a coffee table, stools and a clock or wall hanging. The inspiration comes from pulp spacers used in packaging... Even though the set is made out of paper, these furniture are strong enough to use.

Bale is a hybrid of twoworlds: the world of industrial manufactured consumer goods, and the world ofnature, tradition and craft.

Does bale represents ourindustrial culture taking over nature or does it represents nature taking it'srevenge on a man made world?

A4 Light Fixture

One of the most scary andexciting things for the creative person, is standing in front of a blank whitepage.

The A4 page is the start ofevery creation. On this page the first ideas are written, and the firstsketches are being scribbled. However in the process of creating, a greatamount of pages are being wrinkled and thrown away.

The A4light fixture symbolizes all of those pages that are fullof new ideas and have been discarded. It is rich in small sparks of new ideasthat are just waiting to become the next creation

This exhibition presents Heinrich Hoffmann’s amusing book in its various adaptations and translations, along with rare early editions. Objects and toys inspired by the wild hero are also on display, alongside activity corners where children may amuse themselves in Peter’s spirit.

Felt Workshop - Low-tech in the Lowest Place on Earth

Once a year the department of Industrial Design in Betzalel Art Academy (Jerusalem), holds a Low-Tech seminar by the Dead-Sea. Here are some images from the felt workshop we run there. This year the theme was "stool". The outcome will be presented in the Israel museum. More on the project in the website of the Israel museum.
